Call for Abstracts

Annual Scientific Day

March 28, 2008

Accepting clinical and basic science abstracts for oral presentation from residents and fellows in the Departments of Surgery, Urology and Orthopaedics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Abstracts will be presented prior to keynote address by Dr. F. William Blaisdell on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008 in Jules Stein Auditorium.

Selected abstracts will receive:

1.      Eight-minute oral presentation

2.      Monetary award

3.      Commemorative plaque

4.      Dinner with the Longmire Surgical Society (3-28-07)

Instructions:

1.      Clinical or basic; case reports not considered

2.      300 words or less (SINGLE PAGE)

3.      Format:

a.      First line: Title of abstract

b.      Second line: Name of presenting author

c.      Third line: Name of mentor.  Only two names should appear.

d.      Fourth line: Department and Division where work was performed

e.      Text: Structured abstract format (introduction, methods, results, conclusions)

f.       Font: Arial size10, single-spaced

g.      Filename: “YOUR LAST NAME 08 Longmire Abstract x of y” where x=number of this abstract and y=total number
    of abstracts you’re submitting.  Example: Busuttil 08 Longmire Abstract 1 of 1.

4.      May have been presented or published previously

5.      Local research mentors must attend oral presentations
